Cooperative RIBADOURO is located in the North Eastern of Portugal, in the Trás-os-Montes region, bordering with Spain and producing full bodied red, white and rose wines. The wine region named Trás-os-Montes is near the Douro Valley and it’s Demarcated Region, where the well known Port Wines are made and centered around the town of Miranda do Douro with three sub-regions: Chaves, Planalto Mirandês and Valpaços.
The region was initially considered “Indicação de Proveniencia Regulamentada (IGP Region), but in 2006, it became considered as '“Denominação de Origem Controlada“ (DOC) region. Our wines are made in sub-region Planalto Mirandês from local grapes varietals: Bastardo , Guveito, Malvasia Fina, Mourisco Tinto, Rabo de Ovelha, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Francesa, Touriga National and Viosinho.
The company started to work on 3rd of February of 1959. The main message “to continue tradition…” expresses our love to wine and traditions of North region of Portugal.
We are producing four brands of wine – Pauliteiros, Mirandum, Lhéngua Mirandesa IGP and Ribeira do Corso DOC. Each name of wine has them history and reflects our traditions in the names and taste of wine.
